Kielder Walk - Duchess Trail

Distance: 2 miles

Time: 1 hours

Nearest pub: Anglers Arms, Pheasant Inn (Stannersburn) or The Black Cock Inn (Falstone)

Kielder is a great spot to head to for a day to explore, there’s so many walking and cycling routes for different abilities 🚶‍♀️and art work to explore 🖼️

One of our favourite routes when the children were little was The Duchess Trail, a short walk that feels like a big adventure and a maze, salmon hatchery, castle and cafe at the end of it too!

The route is mainly in the trees 🌲, we extend the route to take in the viaduct too. It really reminds you that under the water was once a whole community, that the train was a vital part of the area for connectivity to the local villages and further afield.

There’s also a bike 🚲 hire centre in the village so if you’re more of a two wheeled than two footed explorer there’s options there too.

When you stay with us in our guest guide you will find a link to unlock hundreds of walking routes on our doorstep and a bit further afield.

We will be sharing some of these during 2023 with you. A walk with a picnic can make a fabulous 🆓adventure for the whole family.
